The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has announced the Summer Fellowship Programme 2026, a prestigious two-month research internship designed to promote high-quality academic research among students in Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, and Management.

This fellowship offers selected candidates an opportunity to work closely with faculty members at IIT Madras and receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000.

📅 Programme Duration

18 May 2026 to 17 July 2026 (Tentative)

💰 Stipend Details

  • ₹15,000 per month

  • Maximum duration: 2 months

  • Amount will be prorated based on the actual duration of the internship

🏨 Hostel Facility

Hostel and mess facilities will be available on a payment basis, subject to availability.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

The programme is open to:

  • 3rd Year UG students (B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc Engineering / 3-Year B.Sc with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics)

  • 3rd or 4th Year Integrated / Dual Degree students (M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc)

  • 1st Year M.Sc / M.A / MBA students

Applicants must have:

  • Strong academic record

  • High university ranks (preferred)

  • Research exposure (if any)

  • Participation in seminars, projects, design contests

  • Olympiad scores or academic distinctions (if applicable)

⚠ Students currently studying in IITs are not eligible to apply.

  6. Statement of Purpose (One page – mention research interests and project ideas)

  7. Application Fee: ₹100 (Non-refundable – Online Payment)
